My child is 8 and reading books above their age target, should I worry? Join Susannah for this energetic presentation on literacy and literature for high ability young people. She will highlight the characteristics of environments that escalate literacy development, share some of her favorite books, and answer questions about the readers and non-readers in your life.
Susannah Richards is a professor who teaches literacy, literature, and teacher pedagogy courses. She reads lots and lots of books. She has served on the 2013 John Newbery Committee, 2017 Geisel Award Committee, and chaired the 2025 Boston Globe Horn Book Award committee. She regularly presents at national and state conferences on escalating English Language Arts for all students, highlights new books, and collaborates with teachers, librarians, and families all over the country.
