GREAT NEWS FOR ALABAMA'S GIFTED STUDENTS!

We are thrilled to announce that Governor Ivey has signed the Alabama Education Trust Fund (ETF) Budget, which includes a fantastic $2 million increase for gifted programs!

This significant increase is a direct result of the tireless advocacy efforts of many dedicated individuals, and we want to express our sincere gratitude to each and every one of you who played a role. Also, we would like to thank our supportive legislators and our Governor for seeing the need for an increase.

What this means for gifted students: Funding for gifted programs will jump from $10,350,000 to $12,350,000 for the 2024-2025 school year. This increase includes a $1,425,000 grant program dedicated to gifted programs

How to find more information: You can view the entire ETF document, where gifted program allocations are listed under line item 271, at Alabama Legislature Website. (https://alison.legislature.state.al.us/.../ETF_FY_2025...)

Looking ahead: While this is a tremendous step forward, our fight for full funding for gifted education continues. We encourage you to keep advocating for our gifted students!

Thank you!

Gifted advocacy takes a year-round effort.   We made great strides this last legislative year but we are far from the much needed funds to make full-funding a reality.  Share what is happening in your classroom on all your social media outlets.  Reach out to your elected officials.  Until gifted education is fully funded, we will continue striving for that goal!  Go here, to find out what you can do!
