MythBusters: The What and How of Creativity

Creativity is a highly sought-after skill in our globalized society, even deemed as essential as literacy. As the demand for creativity grows, so does the need to develop creative thinkers. But what is creativity exactly? And how do educators cultivate creativity in the classroom within a system wrought with rigid schedules, curricula, and standardized testing? In this webinar, we’ll confront common myths and misconceptions of creativity and discuss ways to develop creativity in the classroom.

Dr. Kristen N. Lamb (PhD, University of North Texas) is an assistant professor in the College of Education at the University of Alabama. Previously, she was a classroom teacher which she continues to use to inform her research as well as her work with other classroom teachers. She studies equity issues in advanced and accelerated academics, the role of creativity in the talent development of high ability students, and classroom conditions conducive to developing creative thinking and advanced academic achievement.
